HOW IT'S DONE! The Process DuoPics are created and handmade by Bob Moats using two separate pictures combining them to fit into one frame using a process of slicing each picture and assembling them into one image, then folding them at 45 degree angles. To better understand this the following explaination is provided. First Bob starts with two pictures in digital format or two photo prints that will be scanned into digital. The two pictures are then "sliced" into specific numbers depending on the final size. For a 8X10 frame each picture would be sliced into 16 (portrait) or 20 (landscape) pieces with a special program as shown below. The slices are saved and then a desktop publishing program is used to assemble the two separate photo slices into one picture that will be printed out and later folded. The photo below shows the process of putting the slices together. Once the image is created it is exported as a picture it's then printed out on gloss photo paper on an Epson wide printer. The picture is then trimmed and folded by hand as shown below. It's a lengthy process. The photo is then placed onto a special frame created by Bob Moats to hold the folds exactly into equal widths. When the folded picture is clamped in place, a piece of card stock is glued to the back of the picture as shown. When the contact cement has dried the wires are pulled and the picture is removed. The finished product is inserted into a frame (any style can be used, your choice) and the back is put in place. And the picture is done! The effect can be seen in the pictures at the top of the page. You provide two pictures and they will be put into one unique product. Hang or set this frame in your home and it changes as you walk back and forth through out the day. As a gift you can give someone an anniversary photo (wedding day and today), birthday (baby pic and older photo), vacation photos, or any of your two most favorite pictures. Large (up to 16 X 20 inch) nature photos are available for your home.
