Preparing your Pictures
For more information call Bob at 586-365-8079
1. Gather all the photos that you will be using, they MUST be removed from albums or frames. Also remember that pictures must be no bigger than approximately 8"x10" and no smaller than "wallet size".

2. Lay them out in the order you would like to see them on the DVD. A large table or the floor works to spread them out. Put them into years or subject, however you wish them to be. They can be placed into smaller piles, just keep their order.

3. Once you have them in order put a small number on the back of each photo, in order, with a pencil or place a sticky note on the back of the picture with the number on it. Try not to use ink on the back of the photo, it might damage your picture. After you are done numbering and you discover that you need to add a picture, or more, somewhere in the group, just number that one with the number from the picture before it and add a “-” followed by a 1 (or 2,3,4, etc if you have more to add). For example: you  need one more picture that you forgot about and it fits perfectly after the one you've already numbered 58, just label the extra picture as 58-1 and put it in the pile.

4. If you require captions over your photos, take a sheet of lined paper and write the photo’s number, in order, of  each picture that you want captioned. Clearly PRINT the caption as it would appear on the slide show. Don’t be “wordy”, usually names or a brief comment about the picture is fine. Remember people will have to read this and see the picture at the same time, when there is only a few seconds for each picture, they may miss one or the other.

NOTE: There is no difference in price if your pictures are on a digital disk in JPG format (or similar). Many Photolab disks are in a proprietary format and may require conversion on our part, which may incur more time to process. You will have to go through the disk and write down the disk photo number and write down captions for each picture. The order on the disk will be the order on the show, if you require a different order this will have to be worked out.

5. Think about music. You can use any song you like as long as it is on CD or in MP3 format. The length of the song is not important as we can clip the song or adjust the picture time to fill the song length. We have a small variety of  royalty free instrumental music you can use, but most people already have a song or two they would like to use. Remember, a 20 minute slide show (approximately up to 240 pictures) can contain up to 6 songs but we can make adjustments.

6. We will work with you on show Titles and special effects if any. Special effects require more time to process and may incur additional fees.

7. Once your photos, captions and any music are ready to go, contact us and we will work out a time to get together to look over what you have.

8. It can take up to three weeks to complete your project depending on number of photos, special requirements and changes. Most can be done in a week or two, but it may require more time to do the project right.

9. When we feel your slide show is completed we will provide you with a Proof copy of the DVD for you to approve before the final copy is burned. The proof copy will be just like the final copy but will have a large sequential number over each picture that you will use to write down so we know where to provide corrections.
