The Life and Times of Bob Moats

September 2004 - Into Nebraska and Iowa - Heading Back to Michigan The story continues... Voyage home continues... We continued on into Nebraska and Iowa. We traveled all across Nebraska, it was flat, lots of freeways and boring, that's all to say. We then traveled half way across Iowa and just before dark we approached Des Moine when we hit a fierce rain storm and the local radio was warning of tornados. We got into Des Moine and found a small state park and pulled in. We had two outhouses right by us and complete privacy so we camped in the van for the night just as the rain storm stopped. Around this point I was getting tired of sleeping sitting up in the driver's seat every night. A few pictures of that part below.

Entering Iowa Missouri River, Nebraska/Iowa state line, and heading to Des Moines. More flat lands, but a bit of hills and then the downpour in Des Moines. Finding a $1.62 gas station and Justin getting giddy from the ride. Our little TV that we watched when we could find a channel and the outhouses. The mighty Mississippi river (do you see Mark Twain?) as we crossed into Illinois.
