The story continues...
February 18th, 2004 update - On January 30th I received an email from that friend in Michigan who I rented a room from while we both worked at Meijer's in Port Huron. Back then I ended up in management and Ken stayed as a union employee, well it seems Meijer's decided to eliminate 2000 management positions company wide and by the end of this last January I would have been out of a job. I also recently talked to my former supervisor, Gary, and he was in touch with the people at the Roseville Meijer's, my last store, and just about everyone including my old job had been let go. So I guess coming to Las Vegas wasn't an all bad thing either, I might have been stuck back there in snow with no job.
April 22th, 2004 update - Just realized I hadn't updated, so here is some new info. About a month ago I got real tired of being a customer service rep for T-Mobile, having to put up with stupid people all day on the phone crabbing about their service or phone breakdowns, so I looked for another line of work. I happened to be going thru the classifieds and found an ad for an opening at a local magic company, Houdini's Magic Shops, located in about eight casinos/hotels around Vegas and applied. I got the job that day and went into my last day at T-Mobile. I started the next Monday and am there now. If you stop into Las Vegas visit the New York-New York casino/hotel to the store and say hi.
May 13th, 2004 update - Well, I had the most perfect day today, a small dream come true and if I may say, as I think back over my life, it was the best thing that has happened to me since my birth or my son's birth. Ok, this may not seem like much to you but today as I was working at the magic shop two attractive girls came in and I thought I recognized one of them. One of the other magicians, Rocky, was doing his best to entertain the tall bosomy one of the two and the other was the one I wanted to talk to, so I waited till there was a lull in the conversation and asked her if she knew "Lisa Snyder". I was corrected that it was Liza with a long "i" and a "z". I joked that I wanted proof that she was Liza Snyder (one of the stars on the weekly TV show "Yes, Dear") and she produced her Screen Actors Guild card and I was almost speechless (and I remained tongue tied the rest of her visit). You see out of all the women on TV, or in real life for that matter, this is the one girl I have had a total attraction to, even if she is almost twenty years younger (our birthdays are 12 days apart by 19 years). I remember first seeing her from the sitcom "Jesse" with Christina Applegate and was thankful that she got another sitcom, "Yes, Dear", so she would still be on TV to watch. I have held an enormous crush for her and never thought I would ever meet her in person and while she is very attractive on TV, in real life she is dazzlingly beautiful. I don't know what it is, I've seen so many attractive women on TV or out in life, none of them really holds my interest as much as Liza does. I never really believed in that "soulmate" stuff, I guess because I've never experienced it, but there is something about her that totally intrigues me. So the fates can be strange and out of the thousands of females I have seen, she was the one to enter my world briefly. Yes, briefly, after she was so nice to let me take a picture of her and I, she went on her way. I did a lot of bargaining with the fates the rest of the day to have her come running back to the store begging me to share her life, but as I left work six hours later, alone, I was just thankful I met her. Below is that picture of her and I, which I will treasure (and it's also my new wallpaper on my computer).

June 1st, 2004 update - Just a quick update to say I'm now at the Houdini Magic Shop in the Venetian Hotel/Casino. It's a lot nicer than the New York, New York with a bit more upscale customers, they like to spend more money here. So if you need to visit me, I'm there now.
July 2004, update - Had a surprise guestbook visit from Ray Zink, the young man who I first met when I had my magic shop and he would help me with my magic shows in the 70's. Ray came out to Vegas this month for a convention related to the sporting good business in which he is a buyer for four major sporting good companies. Ray, my son and I went to see the Lance Burton Magic Show and had a good time for that night reminiscing then he went back to business. Recently he sent me a few photos of him doing the thing he loves, fishing, and the picture below is Ray with an interesting catch.

August 2004, Update - Well after a year in Las Vegas, I made a decision to head back to Michigan. Besides the CONSTANT sunshine, 100 plus degrees of heat everyday and lack of nice rainy days, I found that trying to make my mark here as an entertainer isn't all that easy. Besides the hundreds of other magicians out here all trying for a job, all the work I put into trying to find a place to perform met with problems of favoritism for other well established magicians. I don't have time to stop being the new kid in town and if I can't find a place to perform then I'm just spinning my wheels. I did many more shows back in Michigan and I decided to go back and re-establish myself there. I also want to be closer to my family and the few friends I have back there, and mostly because my dad is not any better from his stroke and has been in and out of the hospital a number of times. My Mom most the time wasn't sure if he would make it and I didn't want to be so far away if something happened. My son is also tired of Vegas and we both will be heading back around the first week of September. More info to follow.
September to November 2004, Update - OK, my son and I had a very interesting time getting back to Michigan. The trip was good and bad but we made it back to Fraser on Labor Day and settled in. I'm starting a new page to give you all the gory details of our trip cross country and what has happened since our return. Damn, Michigan is cloudy, do I miss the constant sunshine now, well maybe a little. The next page coming up shortly.
